Exwold enjoying the benefits of BASME

Exwold were pleased to attend the recent BASME organised workshop on The Fundamentals of Selling.

Exwold specialise in the contract processing of chemicals, largely solids based. Employing over 60 people at 4 sites based in the North East of England, Exwold joined the BASME scheme last year and have been delighted with the support provided by NEPIC.

Business Acceleration for SMEs( BASME) is an initiative that aims to:
• Grow Sales in the process and allied sectors in the North East
• Increase employment in the North East of the UK

A three year program, this is supported by Regional Growth Fund funding and is based on a successful pilot scheme.

Held on the 14th January , The Fundamentals of Selling workshop was a half day event, ideal for newcomers to the sales role but equally very useful for experienced sales personnel perhaps looking to approach their work from a different perspective. The course was led by Richard Lane of sales training company Durham Lane who provided useful information on motivation, sales methodology , problem solving and making a good first impression.

Mike Druce, Exwold Sales and Purchasing Manager attended the event and said " The BASME team did a great job in organising this event and it was pitched perfectly for an audience with a wide range of experience but with a very shared goal of growing their business. All in all this was a very enjoyable and worthwhile morning which I feel has helped my understanding of how to approach a potential customer and helped build my confidence in how best to see the sales process through to the placing of an order. I particularly enjoyed learning about the innovative sales tool, "The Magic 35"and am looking forward to using this as my Sales role in Exwold continues to develop"
